History and Origins

"Food" is said to have been a so-called fisher's meal, which the fisherman had cut up on the boat and cooked with rice. In addition to Aichi Prefecture, it's common for indoor areas such as XEhime Prefecture, Kagawa Prefecture and ZXHiroshima Prefecture. On the day of the trip to Migawa Bay, Koga Island is called the "Oo Island" because of its fine octopuses. In addition to being able to see octopus characters everywhere on the island, such as the monument and the manhole lid, there will be a festival in the summer that prays for octopus sacrifices and fish. Also, the island's Peace Temple is called the "Kyoko" because of the story of a giant deer that was wrapped around it to protect the Buddha when a temple statue was lifted by fishermen after the earthquake. On Kogashima this day, where the octopus is special, you can enjoy all kinds of octopus dishes, including "saki" food.

When It Is Eaten

Once, in the South and the West, there was a custom of eating octopuses in the semisummer. The day was the most important thing for farmers to finish planting the fields. It is said that the octopus has eight breathing feet and that they dedicated an octopus to God with the hope that the seed would take root. The custom of eating octopus on a semisummer day was widely found in the interior area of Seto, and the price of octopus rose before the midsummer. Because octopuses are rich in turpentine and are considered good for recovery, many people eat them in the summer bath prevention.

How It Is Eaten

The nationally, boiling octopus is often mixed into rice, but in Aichi Prefecture it is the main source of raw octopus being cooked with rice. They sometimes call it "Sakisaki" because they mix them together to get a pretty cherry color. It's good to taste only octopuses in simple ways, but it's also good to put carrots in slices to improve their color, to spread them out on teacups, and to see how they grow and how they grow. If you don't get raw silk, you can use it for steaming octopuses and dried octopuses.
